What is a Certificate of Analysis?
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a lot-specific document issued by an analytical laboratory that records the empirical test data for a synthesized compound. It tells you what’s actually in the vial, not what we hope is in the vial.
Why third-party COAs matter
It is industry-standard practice for a peptide retailer to issue its own internal COA. We don’t think that’s enough. Internal COAs share an obvious commercial-incentive problem: the lab that needs the lot to pass is the same lab that runs the test. SilverZone Labs uses an independent third-party analytical laboratory with no stake in the synthesis outcome — if a lot fails, it fails.
What we test for
Every SilverZone Labs lot is analyzed for, at minimum:
- HPLC purity at 220 nm. Minimum specification: ≥99.0% area purity. Most lots ship at ≥99.5%.
- Mass-spec identity confirmation. The observed monoisotopic mass must match the theoretical molecular weight to within instrumental tolerance.
- Water content by Karl Fischer titration where applicable.
- Net peptide content (gravimetric) where the formulation includes counter-ions or buffer salts.
What happens when a lot fails
Out-of-spec lots are not released. They are quarantined, root-caused, and either reworked or discarded. We don’t backport an underperforming lot through alternative testing.
How to access a COA
- For your purchased lot: the COA link is included in your order confirmation and on the product page for the current lot.
- For pre-purchase review: request the most recent lot’s COA at lab@silverzonelabs.com.
- For a historical lot: include the lot number from your vial in your email request. Historical COAs are retained indefinitely.
Turnaround
COA requests are answered within one business day.
